Mission

The Windsor Good News Electronics Recycling and Education Corporation (WinCycle) shall strive to:

  • Make functional computers and other equipment available to area non-profit groups, educational institutions, and individuals in need for low prices,

  • Sell inexpensive used equipment to area residents and businesses,

  • Establish a "fee" schedule for equipment disposal that reflects the cost of paying to dispose of hazardous materials,

  • Use the recycling service as a site for educational training by reaching out to all elements of the community - individuals, organizations, schools, businesses - to educate them to the problems associated with improper disposal of electronic equipment,

  • Offer an environmentally-responsible method for the disposal of nonfunctional computers, monitors, and related electronic equipment,

  • Keep computers and other electronic equipment out of landfills and incinerators,

  • Retrieve working parts for use in refurbishing equipment for sale in the retail store,

  • Dismantle the remaining equipment for disposal,

  • Provide individuals, including people who are disabled, with valuable job skills as they earn credits toward the purchase of computer equipment through volunteer hours at the warehouse and store,

  • Make the operation financially self-sufficient through the sale of components, equipment, and dismantled items; the organization may also accept contributions of computer/or other equipment that can be sold on a consignment basis,

  • Structure the effort so that it can be a model program - one that can be adapted/adopted by other communities - and assume responsibility for disseminating information about this initiative.
