Vermont E-Cycles

REMEMBER: Vermont’s electronic waste law banned the disposal of all electronic waste starting January 1, 2011. Vermont residents and businesses can no longer put electronics in the garbage or take them to a transfer station or landfill to be thrown away. They must be recycled.

The law now provides convenient collection of certain electronic waste for consumers, charities, school districts, and small businesses at no cost. This free e-waste collection program started on July 1, 2011. Vermont E-Cycles collection locations provide FREE recycling of computers, monitors, televisions, printers, and computer peripherals for residents, charities, school districts, and small businesses. These collection sites are located statewide and operate year-round.

  • Electronics may be dropped at any collection location; they do not have to be in the consumer’s municipality, county, or solid waste district.
  • Participating collection locations accept all computers, monitors, printers, computer peripherals and TVs - regardless of brand, age, or condition - for free recycling.
  • Participating collection locations may also take other electronics that are NOT covered under the Vermont E-Cycles program. They may charge a fee to recycle them. Please contact the collection location for more information.
  • WinCycle is a program member and will recycle the electronics on the free list at no charge. There will be a $.30-per-pound charge for banned electronics such as vcrs, telephones, and radios that must be recycled but are not covered under the free recycling program.
